ZW32-12 Circuit Breaker

ZW32-12 Permanent Magnetic Outdoor Vacuum Circuit Breaker

ZW32-12 model outdoor vacuum circuit breaker is a three-phase AC 50Hz outdoor distribution device rated at 12kV. It is used for making and breaking load current, overload current, and short-circuit current in power systems, providing reliable switching and protection for overhead distribution lines. It is widely applied in industrial and mining enterprise substations for power distribution system protection and control, as well as in rural power grid networks requiring frequent operation.

The circuit breaker features a small footprint, light weight, anti-condensation design, and maintenance-free operation, enabling reliable adaptation to harsh weather conditions, polluted environments, and extreme temperature variations commonly encountered in outdoor overhead line installations.

Key Features

  • Permanent Magnetic Actuator: The ZW32-12 employs an advanced permanent magnetic actuator (PMA) instead of conventional spring or electromagnetic mechanisms — the magnetic actuator uses permanent magnets to hold the moving contact in both closed and open positions without continuous power consumption, with only a brief DC pulse required to change state. This eliminates dozens of mechanical parts (springs, gears, latches, trip linkages) found in traditional mechanisms, dramatically improving reliability
  • True Maintenance-Free Operation: With only one moving part in the actuator and no mechanical linkages, springs, or auxiliary contacts requiring adjustment, the ZW32-12 achieves true maintenance-free operation for its entire mechanical life of 30,000+ operations — eliminating the need for periodic mechanism lubrication, spring replacement, and latch adjustment required by conventional spring-operated circuit breakers
  • Anti-Condensation Protection: Integrated thermostatically controlled anti-condensation heaters prevent internal moisture accumulation and condensation within the mechanism housing — critical for outdoor installations in high-humidity environments, coastal areas, and regions with large diurnal temperature swings where condensation is a common cause of insulation failure and control circuit corrosion
  • Outdoor-Grade Weather Protection: IP65 protection rating for the pole assembly and IP54 for the mechanism housing provides complete protection against dust ingress and water jets — the vacuum interrupter pole assembly is sealed and immune to environmental contamination, while UV-stabilized silicone rubber or porcelain bushings provide long-term outdoor insulation performance
  • High-Capacity Breaking Performance: Capable of breaking short-circuit currents up to 20kA with a making capacity of 50kA peak — suitable for primary overhead distribution network protection at 12kV with adequate fault current interruption capability for most rural and suburban distribution applications
  • High Mechanical and Electrical Endurance: Rated for 30,000 mechanical operations and 10,000 full-load electrical operations — significantly exceeding the endurance of spring-operated alternatives and enabling frequent switching applications in rural networks with daily load switching requirements
  • Contamination-Resistant Insulation: Designed with creepage distance of ≥ 31mm/kV (anti-pollution class IV), the external insulation system maintains reliable performance in heavy pollution environments including coastal salt spray, industrial dust, agricultural chemical spray, and desert sand — areas where standard insulation would experience tracking and flashover
  • Compact and Lightweight Construction: The integrated design combining vacuum interrupter, permanent magnetic actuator, and control electronics in a compact column-type enclosure weighs only 80–120 kg — significantly lighter than spring-operated equivalents, enabling easier pole-mounted installation and reduced structural loading on distribution poles
  • SCADA-Ready Control Interface: Standard integration with remote terminal unit (RTU) or distribution automation (DA) controller through low-energy trip/close coils, auxiliary contacts for position indication, and optional current/voltage sensors for fault detection — enabling fully automated feeder switching and fault isolation in smart grid applications
