Position any meter, MCB, terminal, or busbar precisely — no drilling, no plate changes

DBX-5000 type meter box is a terminal distribution enclosure designed for installing single-phase electric energy meters (220V). The component mounting plate of the DBX-5000 utilizes an adjustable track with movable blocks, enabling a modular approach to internal component installation — DIN-rail devices, terminal blocks, and metering equipment can be positioned with precision and reconfigured without drilling or plate modification.

This adjustable-track approach is shared with GOHO's QHX dual power supply box and is ideal for projects where the meter brand, type (electronic/mechanical, DIN-rail/base), or protective device configuration is not yet finalized at the time of enclosure procurement, or where on-site reconfiguration is expected. Meters, DIN-rail MCBs, terminal blocks, and neutral/earth busbars can all be repositioned by simply sliding and locking the movable blocks along the track.

Available in surface-mounted or flush-mounted configuration, the DBX-5000 features a dedicated sealable utility metering compartment (padlock hasp or triangle-key lock), a transparent polycarbonate reading window, and clear utility-consumer physical separation — making it a flexible, tamper-proof single-phase metering solution for apartments, houses, retail shops, small offices, dormitories, and utility domestic service connections.

Why Choose DBX-5000 Meter Box

Adjustable track modular mounting, flexible layout, and tamper-proof revenue metering

Adjustable Track Modular Mounting

The innovative mounting plate with adjustable track and movable blocks allows precise positioning of all internal components — meters, DIN-rail MCBs, terminal blocks, and neutral/earth busbars — without drilling, tapping, or plate replacement, enabling rapid reconfiguration for different meter types and distribution layouts.

Flexible Component Arrangement

Components can be added, removed, or repositioned by simply sliding the movable mounting blocks along the track — accommodating changes in meter type, protective device configuration, or wiring requirements without enclosure modification, so one DBX-5000 can serve multiple meter brands and project revisions.

Secure Revenue Metering

Dedicated sealable meter compartment with transparent reading window and utility-standard locking maintains metering security and tamper evidence while enabling convenient meter reading — the utility side remains sealed and inaccessible to the consumer, while the consumer can still access their own protective device.

Modular Design Philosophy

Standardized mounting interfaces and component spacing simplify assembly, reduce installation time, and ensure consistent build quality across multiple enclosure installations — factory assembly is faster, on-site modification is easier, and spare components are universally interchangeable.

Surface or Flush Mount

Available in both surface-mounted (exposed, ideal for retrofit and surface conduit) and flush-mounted (concealed, recessed into wall cavity for a clean finish) configurations to suit different building construction types, wall materials, and architectural requirements.

Transparent Meter Window

A transparent polycarbonate panel in the metering compartment door allows utility field staff to read the meter display or perform optical meter interrogation without opening the enclosure — preserving the utility seal and eliminating the need to break and replace seals during routine reading cycles.

Integrated Overcurrent Protection

A dedicated consumer-side MCB (up to 63A) housed in the separately accessible consumer compartment provides short-circuit and overload protection for the downstream consumer installation — resettable by the occupant without utility intervention, mounted on the adjustable track for flexible positioning.

Durable Steel Enclosure

Cold-rolled steel construction with anti-corrosion powder coating provides reliable long-term service in indoor environments including residential stairwells, corridors, utility rooms, and meter cupboards — resistant to impact, humidity, and normal building contaminants.

Padlock or Triangle-Key Lock

The metering compartment is fitted with a padlockable hasp or a utility-standard triangle-key lock, allowing utilities to choose their preferred access-control method — padlock + wire-and-seal for tamper-evident access, or triangle-key for convenient repeated utility access without consumable seals.

Frequently Asked Questions

Common questions about DBX-5000 single-phase electricity meter boxes

How does DBX-5000 differ from the other DBX meter boxes (DBX-2000/3000/4000)?

All four DBX models are 220V single-phase, one-meter-per-unit revenue metering boxes with utility-consumer physical separation and a transparent reading window. The key differentiator of each: (1) DBX-2000 — wall-mounted only; economical baseline; padlock hasp or triangle-key lock. (2) DBX-3000 — surface OR flush mount; 1P or 1P+N MCB; dedicated separately-door consumer compartment. (3) DBX-4000 — surface OR flush mount; built on standard 9mm modular DIN-rail (supports MCB, RCCB, RCBO); slim compact profile. (4) DBX-5000 — surface OR flush mount; the standout feature is the adjustable track with movable mounting blocks, allowing meters, DIN-rail devices, terminal blocks, and busbars to be precisely positioned and reconfigured without drilling or replacing the mounting plate. The DBX-5000 is the most flexible for projects where the meter brand/model or protective device layout may change, where on-site reconfiguration is expected, or where a custom component layout is needed without custom enclosure tooling.

How does the adjustable track with movable blocks work?

The adjustable track mounting system works as follows: (1) Horizontal or vertical mounting rails (tracks) are fixed to the internal mounting plate. (2) Movable mounting blocks slide freely along these tracks and can be locked at any position by tightening their set screws. (3) Each component — the single-phase meter, DIN-rail for the MCB, terminal blocks, and the neutral/earth busbars — is bolted to one or more movable blocks. (4) To reconfigure, loosen the blocks, slide them to the new positions (matching the new component's mounting holes), and retighten. No drilling, no tapping, no new mounting plate. This means a single DBX-5000 enclosure can be adapted to fit meters from different utility companies (which often have different mounting hole patterns) or to accommodate a change from a mechanical meter to an electronic meter, or to add/reposition an MCB, without modifying the enclosure. The same technology is used in GOHO's QHX dual power supply box for ATS device flexibility.

When should I choose the DBX-5000 over a standard meter box?

Choose the DBX-5000 when: (1) The meter brand or model is not yet finalized at procurement time — the adjustable track means you can buy the enclosure first and fit the specified meter later without customization. (2) Multiple meter brands may be used across a project (e.g., different utility areas or contractor preferences) — one enclosure type fits all. (3) You expect on-site reconfiguration or future meter upgrades (mechanical → electronic, or standard → smart meter) — no need to replace the enclosure. (4) You need a custom internal layout (e.g., specific terminal block or busbar positioning) without paying for custom tooling. (5) You want the flexibility of the QHX-style adjustable track technology in a metering enclosure. For straightforward projects where the meter type is fixed and no reconfiguration is expected, the DBX-2000, DBX-3000, or DBX-4000 are simpler and more economical alternatives.

Can the DBX-5000 accommodate a smart or electronic meter?

Yes — and this is one of the DBX-5000's strengths. Because the meter is mounted on the adjustable track with movable blocks rather than fixed pre-drilled holes, the DBX-5000 can accommodate both mechanical (induction) and electronic/smart single-phase meters with DIN-rail or base mounting, regardless of their specific hole patterns. To fit a new or different meter: (1) Loosen the movable blocks on the track. (2) Position them to align with the meter's mounting holes. (3) Retighten and bolt the meter in place. No drilling required. For smart meters with communication modules (RF, PLC, cellular), ensure adequate space inside the metering compartment for the antenna or module — this is usually not an issue with standard form-factor meters. When specifying, indicate the meter brand and model so we can confirm the mounting type (DIN-rail vs. base) and pre-configure the track layout at the factory.

How is the meter box sealed, and who holds the keys?

The utility metering compartment is sealed using either a padlockable hasp or a utility-standard triangle-key lock: (1) Padlockable hasp — a small utility-owned padlock is fitted through the hasp, optionally combined with a numbered wire-and-seal for tamper evidence. The utility holds the only key. (2) Triangle-key lock — a utility-standard triangular socket lock opened by a universal triangle key carried by utility field staff, for convenient repeated access without consumable seals. In both cases, only the utility company can legally open the metering compartment. The consumer compartment (MCB) has a separate, non-sealed access point that the consumer can open freely to reset a tripped breaker. Always confirm the sealing method with the local utility company, as electricity supply regulations often mandate a specific sealing type (wire-and-seal, padlock, or triangle-key).

Can the DBX-5000 be used for three-phase metering?

No. The DBX-5000 is specifically designed for single-phase (220V/230V) metering only. It accommodates one single-phase meter per unit and is rated for up to 100A main current. For three-phase (380V/400V) metering — residential units with three-phase supply, small commercial premises with three-phase loads, or industrial customers — a three-phase meter box is required. GOHO's JP series outdoor distribution box includes three-phase metering configurations, and for indoor three-phase metering we can supply a custom three-phase meter box based on the XL-21 or GHM platform with a dedicated meter compartment. When requesting a three-phase metering solution, specify the voltage (380V/400V), current rating, whether CT (current transformer) metering is needed for high currents, and the utility-consumer separation requirements. Do not attempt to use the single-phase DBX-5000 for three-phase service, as this would create a serious safety and regulatory non-compliance issue.
