Design Variants

One cubicle platform covers the whole low‑voltage line‑up, so incomers, bus couplers, feeders, motor starters and compensation can be combined in a single continuous board.

Same cubicle, three internal philosophies. The frame, busbar and cable room are common; what changes is how the protective devices are mounted. FCB gives one air circuit‑breaker a full cubicle, OFF packs fixed modules behind individual doors, and OFW uses withdrawable units that can be replaced while the board is live.

Key Features

Type-Tested Assembly to IEC 61439-1/-2 SIVACON 8PT is a type‑tested assembly: temperature rise, dielectric properties, short‑circuit strength, protective‑conductor continuity, mechanical operation and degree of protection are all verified by test on the standard modules, not calculated per project. Every cubicle also passes routine tests — visual and electrical inspection, insulation test and verification of protective‑circuit continuity — before shipment.
Internal Arc Protection with Roof Pressure Relief The cubicle is verified to IEC TR 61641 with a pressure‑relief duct at the top of the enclosure. If an internal arc occurs, hot gas and energy are released upwards and away from the operating face, and the arc‑tested hinges and door locks keep doors closed. That protects both the operator and the adjacent cubicles in a live board.
Horizontal Busbar up to 7400 A Horizontal busbars are arranged at the top of the cubicle and can be coupled from above, which simplifies extension of an existing board. A single three‑ply system reaches 5000 A within a 2200 mm cubicle height, and a double three‑ply system reaches 7400 A — high current capacity without increasing the footprint or losing device mounting space.
Internal Separation up to Form 4b Busbar, device and cable compartments are segregated, and functional units can be separated up to Form 4b with an individual connection box for every unit. Faults are contained in the compartment where they occur, and maintenance work on one feeder does not disturb the rest of the board.
Modular Frame on a 25 mm Grid The frame is a screwed or welded steel profile with a 25 mm hole pitch, so cubicles can be extended, re‑partitioned or converted later without replacing the structure. Busbars can be flexibly matched to the required current level, and cubicle widths from 400 to 1200 mm cover everything from a small feeder panel to a 7400 A incomer.
½ Withdrawable Units — High Packing Density With ½ draw‑out modules, a cubicle with 1800 mm usable height accepts up to 18 circuits. Standard module heights of 100, 150, 200, 300, 400, 500, 600 and 700 mm, plus two ½ sizes, let each circuit take only the space it needs — fewer cubicles, lower investment, same rating.
Dedicated Secondary Wiring Compartment A separate secondary wiring compartment at the front top of the cubicle shields control wiring from electromagnetic interference and keeps it away from the power compartments. Draw‑out units use dedicated secondary plug‑and‑socket connectors with communication contacts, which supports bus communication as well as conventional control.
Safe Draw-Out Operation Every draw‑out unit shows its three positions — connected, test and disconnected — and is mechanically interlocked against incorrect operation. The test and disconnected positions can be locked, so work on the load side is possible while the board stays live. Above 250 A, a lever mechanism makes inserting and withdrawing the unit much easier.

Cabinet Construction & Safety

Two details decide how a low‑voltage board behaves on a bad day: how far one fault can spread inside the enclosure, and where the energy goes if an arc occurs. Both are designed in, not added later.

Form 1 no internal separation Form 2 busbar separated Form 3 busbar, devices and terminals Form 4b every unit its own terminal box
Internal separation. Every step contains a fault closer to where it started. Form 4b is the highest form the series reaches — each functional unit keeps its own connection box.
Relief duct at cubicle top Internal arc > 20 000 °C Gas and energy released upwards, away from the operating face
Internal arc protection. Verified to IEC TR 61641. Arc‑tested hinges and locks keep the doors closed while the pressure is relieved through the roof, so the operator side stays protected.
Internal view of a SIVACON 8PT low voltage switchgear cubicle with both doors open, showing the frame, horizontal busbar and compartment dividers.
What the separation looks like from inside. Frame, busbar compartment, device zone and cable connection area are divided by steel partitions. Once the doors are closed, the partitions carry the fault current and keep an arc confined to the compartment where it started.

Applications

  • Data centres — main low‑voltage distribution and UPS bypass feeders, where compartmentation keeps a single fault from taking the board down.
  • Commercial buildings and high‑rise risers — floor distribution boards fed from a central 8PT incomer and bus coupler.
  • Solar PV plants — inverter output collection and step‑up distribution, including plant auxiliary supply.
  • Wind farms — turbine‑side auxiliary supply and collector‑system distribution.
  • Metro, rail and airports — traction auxiliary power supply and infrastructure distribution where continuity matters.
  • Cement, steel and heavy process plants — motor control centres with a high concentration of starter circuits.
  • Oil, gas and petrochemical facilities — distribution in harsh environments, with arc‑tested enclosures.
  • Paper mills and other continuous‑process industries — process lines where an unplanned shutdown is costly.

What We Need to Quote Your Line-Up

Because every SIVACON 8PT board is engineered to the project drawing, a few documents are enough for us to come back with a priced cubicle schedule.

  • Single‑line diagram and cubicle schedule
  • System voltage, frequency and earthing system
  • Short‑circuit level (Icw / Ipk) at the board
  • Busbar rating and cable entry direction
  • Required internal separation form
  • Degree of protection (indoor / outdoor duty)
  • Circuit list with device ratings and duties
  • Any metering, protection or communication requirement

Send these to gohointl@gmail.com and we will return a cubicle‑by‑cubicle quotation, including the type‑test documentation relevant to your specification.

SIVACON 8PT low voltage switchgear — a finished line‑up of four cubicles comprising incoming, bus coupler and outgoing feeder sections.
A complete 8PT line‑up. Incoming, bus coupler and outgoing feeder cubicles assembled on one frame — the configuration most projects end up with. We build this range under licence from Siemens Ltd., China, and supply it with approved drawings, routine test reports and operating documents.

Every cubicle we ship is assembled in our own factory in Yueqing, Zhejiang — the same site that supplies our medium‑voltage switchgear, transformers and prefabricated substations. Sheet‑metal fabrication, busbar machining, assembly and routine testing all happen in‑house, which is what keeps the schedule and the quality check inside our control.
