SCBH15 Amorphous Alloy Dry-Type Transformer
Iron-based amorphous alloy core with 60–80% lower no-load loss than conventional silicon-steel (CRGO) transformers. Vacuum-cast epoxy resin, Class F/H insulation, fully fire-safe for indoor installation.
Product Overview
The GOHO SCBH15 series is a high-efficiency three-phase cast resin dry-type distribution transformer built around an advanced amorphous alloy core — engineered for maximum energy savings in long-running and light-load distribution networks.
The SCBH15 series uses an iron-based amorphous alloy core produced by ultra-rapid solidification of molten metal. Its non-crystalline atomic structure delivers exceptionally low coercivity and hysteresis loss, cutting no-load losses by 60–80% compared to equivalent SCB10/SCB11 silicon-steel designs.
The windings are vacuum-cast in epoxy resin (Class F or H), making the unit naturally flame-retardant, self-extinguishing and maintenance-free. With no insulating oil, the SCBH15 eliminates leakage and fire risk, enabling safe installation in commercial buildings, hospitals, schools, basements and environmentally sensitive areas.
With a capacity range of 100–2500 kVA at 10 kV / 0.4 kV, the SCBH15 is especially suited to distribution networks with significant load fluctuation, light-load or no-load operating periods, and any project where long-term energy savings outweigh the initial investment.

Key Features
Nine reasons the GOHO SCBH15 amorphous alloy dry-type transformer delivers superior efficiency, safety and reliability.
Ultra-Low No-Load Loss
Amorphous alloy core delivers 60–80% lower no-load loss than equivalent silicon-steel designs — significant savings during overnight, weekend and seasonal low-load periods.
Exceptional Energy Savings
For a 1000 kVA unit running continuously, annual energy savings from core-loss reduction alone can exceed 10,000–15,000 kWh vs. conventional CRGO equivalents.
Environmental & Fire Safety
Dry-type cast resin construction contains no insulating oil — no leaks, pool fires, explosions or soil/water contamination. Safe for indoor and underground substations.
Superior Humidity Resistance
Vacuum-cast epoxy resin resists moisture absorption and surface condensation — operates reliably at up to 95% RH without insulation degradation or partial discharge.
Ideal for Load Fluctuation
Stable magnetic performance across a wide flux-density range maintains low excitation current and low noise even under significant load variation — perfect for intermittent and renewable loads.
Compact & Lightweight
Despite a larger core cross-section, overall dimensions stay competitive with conventional dry-type transformers, with lower weight, reduced foundation loading and easier installation.
Low Maintenance
No oil testing, filtration, replacement or leak inspection over the service life. Routine maintenance is limited to cleaning ventilation ducts and inspecting connections.
Long Service Life
Vacuum-cast epoxy windings with Class F/H insulation resist thermal aging, moisture and contamination — designed for 20+ years of reliable continuous operation.
Wide Voltage & Capacity Range
100–2500 kVA at 10/11/10.5 kV with 400/415/690 V secondary — flexible off-circuit tapping (±5%) to match grid conditions and load requirements.

Frequently Asked Questions
Common questions about the SCBH15 amorphous alloy dry-type transformer.
The SCBH15 uses an iron-based amorphous alloy core instead of conventional grain-oriented silicon steel (CRGO). The amorphous alloy has a non-crystalline atomic structure with extremely low coercivity and hysteresis loss, reducing no-load losses by 60–80%. For a continuously running 1000 kVA unit this translates to 10,000–15,000 kWh of annual energy savings on core loss alone.
The core material is the key difference. SCB10/SCB11 use conventional CRGO silicon-steel cores; the SCBH15 uses an iron-based amorphous alloy core. Load losses are comparable between the two families, but no-load (core) losses of the SCBH15 are 60–80% lower. Both share the same epoxy cast resin winding, Class F/H insulation and AN/AF cooling options. Choose SCBH15 for high electricity-cost areas, light/no-load operation and green-building projects.
Yes. The SCBH15 is a dry-type transformer with vacuum-cast epoxy resin windings and no insulating oil. It is naturally flame-retardant and self-extinguishing, eliminating the risk of oil leaks, pool fires, explosions and contamination. It is the preferred choice for commercial buildings, hospitals, schools, basements, underground substations and any location where oil-filled transformers are restricted or prohibited by fire codes.
The SCBH15 is supplied as standard with AN (Air Natural) cooling by natural convection. Optional AF (Air Forced) cooling adds axial fans to boost capacity by 30–40% for short-time overloads or higher ambient conditions. The AF system is typically controlled by winding-temperature sensors and can be set for automatic or manual operation.
The SCBH15 is available with either Class F or Class H insulation. Class F units have a 100 K temperature rise limit, while Class H units allow a 125 K rise for higher overload capability. The vacuum-cast epoxy resin system provides excellent resistance to moisture, condensation and thermal aging, ensuring long service life even in demanding environments.
Capacity is determined by your maximum continuous load plus a growth margin, typically 100–2500 kVA at 10/0.4 kV. Enclosure protection depends on the installation location: IP00 for dedicated transformer rooms, IP20/IP23 for general indoor areas, and IP31 or higher (up to IP54) for dusty, humid or outdoor-adjacent environments. Our engineers can recommend the optimal configuration based on your single-line diagram and site conditions.
